Stiff Greenthread

The Stiff Greenthread is a flowering plant in the Asteraceae family. It is also known as Plains Greenthread, or simply, Greenthread. It is well adapted for many soil types and blooms from mid-spring often into fall. It has a deep taproot which allows the plant to be drought-hardy. It prefers disturbed soils with a neutral pH and can be found in 15 states. 
 
This plant is not bothered by deer but is an attractor of pollinators. It may be propagated from a rootball or seeds and, it blooms continually. 
 
The leaves are sometimes crushed for their pleasant aroma and used by Native Americans as a medicinal herb. There are no confirmed benefits to this plant.
